Mortar Board, Inc., is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership and service. Mortar Board members are first-rate leaders, selected from the tops of their classes. Since its establishment in 1914, nearly a quarter of a million members have been initiated at more than 200 chapters across the nation.
Mortar Board provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community. Additionally, Mortar Board offers numerous benefits and opportunities to members, including career networking, fellowships and awards.

The OSU Chapter was one of the four founding chapters of Mortar Board, established on February 15, 1914 in conjunction with Cornell University, The University of Michigan, and Swarthmore College. The OSU Chapter holds the National Mortar Board Conference every July to lead our fellow chapters throughout the year. Mortar Board offers 18 officer positions and many high profile leadership opportunities.
Pi Sigma Alpha (ΠΣΑ), are the three Greek letters that represent the ideals of all the Mortar Board Chapters: Scholarship, Leadership and Service. The mortarboard, an ancient symbol of honor and distinction, represents our organization. The Mortar Board Colors are Gold, representing achievement, and Silver, symbolizing opportunity.
